Pro-Biotic Complex™ provides equal amounts of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum, well-documented probiotic species that support healthy microbiota populations in the small and large intestine. L. acidophilus readily breaks down casein, casein-derived polypeptides, and gluten, hydrolyses bile salts, supports cholestrol metabolism, ferments lactose and a variety of other sugars and polysaccharides aiding digestion, and lowers the pH of intestinal contents. B. bifidum suppresses total and antigen-specific IgE production, enhances IgM and IgG responses to select antigens, augments leukocyte phagocytic activity, activates B cells making them more responsive for IgA secretion, and supports IgA response to C. difficile toxin A.
