Description
Carnosine is a molecule consisting of the amino acids alanine and histidine. It is found in significant concentrations in skeletal muscle tissue, heart muscle, nerve tissue and in the brain. The specific biological role of L-Carnosine in not really known, but it is believed to have anti-oxidant properties and may also be a neurotransmitter. Because carnosine is a dipeptide, it may be neuroprotective or may support the frontal lobe function in the brain.
Despite the fact that little is known about the action of this nutrient, many doctors are utilizing the supplement with excellent reported results.
When taking L-Carnosine, be sure you are also taking an additional nutritional supplement that contains zinc.
As with all Kirkman supplements, Kirkman uses the highest quality and chemically pure L-Carnosine available.
